3 cups of water

For preparing the soup, you should first take a medium-sized saucepan into which you have to put the water and keeping it on the high flame, bring it to a boil. Then add the kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass and cook for 2 minutes.

Then lower the heat and add the fish sauce, the red chilli, shallots, galangal, chilli paste in soy bean oil and lime juice. After that, add tomatoes and mushrooms and allow the mixture to get cooked for quite a bit.

Now add the shrimp or the chicken and keep the flame high; but do not stir. When the shrimp or chicken is done, keep the heat on for 2 minutes more.
