.tags Though rumored to have lost 20 lbs, Beyonce is reported by Self Magazine to have lost 15 lbs in just 10 days. And though Beyonce herself does not recommend the strategy she used, what got to be known as Beyonce diet was instantly born.

In the movie Dream Girls, Beyonce Knowles the famous singer acted the role of Deena Jones. In the movie Deena appears as both a 16 year old girl as well as a 36 ear old woman. So in trying to capture the realities of these two different time, Beyonce went all out to lose weight so she could appear more like a girl when shooting for the younger Deena.

She says that the shoot between those two ages was literally two weeks apart. So that’s all the time she had to significantly change her body. On asking her nutritionist the best strategy to lose a lot of weigh fast, her nutritionist recommended a famous liquid detox diet called the Master Cleanse also called Maple Syrup Diet.

But before you go running to start the Maple Syrup Diet, she did also say, “As soon as it was over, I gained the weight back”.
The Master Cleanse is a detoxing liquid diet protocol attributed to Stanley Burroughs. Though there claims to similar protocols as early as 1930’s, Burroughs is believed to have officially published the protocol in 1976 titled The Master Cleanser.

The premise of the diet is that over the course of the ten days, the body will begin to heal itself and eradicate diseases because it no longer needs to concentrate its energies towards digestion. Adherents to Master Cleanse believe that the protocol helps you detoxify your body, and so your body starts to lose weight easily.

Science has pointed to some evidence that your body store some toxins that it cannot deal with immediately in the fat tissue. These toxins make it hard for one to lose body fat because the body does not want to poison itself. If you lose the fat, the toxins will be released into your blood stream. So the body tends to hang on to such fat, making it extremely hard to lose weight.

Equally obvious is that this diet is extreme in caloric restriction. Infact, it aims to eliminate or keep to minimum calories for between 10 to 40 days. So whether you lose weight due to the extreme calorie deficit or because of eliminating toxins is very debatable.

It is important to note that Beyonce used the Maple Syrup Diet just once. However, she has a daily routine that maintains that famous body. She is said to keeps herself on a strict daily diet, besides one extravagant meal, like pizza or pasta, probably once a week.
