Dental Health and Tooth Pain


Going to the dentist is a very important habit that everybody should be doing regularly. By failing to take dental health seriously, you make yourself vulnerable to different tooth problems and gum diseases. Many people complain about having tooth pain but most of the time would rather ignore it because they’re scared of going to the dentist’s office or sometimes they just can’t make the time for a visit. Better put that fear aside and get dental health into priority. Because stubborn pain will cause more harm in the long run than you would expect.

If you’ve been suffering from sharp tooth pain for quite a while now, chances are you have a gaping cavity in your mouth. Cavities are also called tooth decay and this disease happens when certain bacteria in our mouth slowly break down the tooth’s hard surface allowing it to decay. When this takes place, more bacteria make their way into the sensitive tissue area of the tooth and causes damage there. The infection then manifests itself by that feeling of relentless tooth pain. A regular routing of brushing your teeth, gargling mouthwash and flossing can prevent this.

When we talk about dental health, most of us fail to take notice of our gums. Did you know that having gingivitis or gum disease could also cause tooth pain? Plaque, a white bio film of bacterial particles sticks on to the bottom of the tooth when the mouth isn’t cleaned regularly. When the plaque builds up, the bacterium multiplies then goes on to harm the gums by giving it an infection. When the infection spreads to the nerves then you got a bad case of pain on the way.

There are times when tooth pain doesn’t always indicate an infection issue. Teeth fall out can also be a cause of pain, so can new tooth growth. In this situation, the tooth just plainly hits a nerve, which then makes you feel pain. Simply take in an aspirin or two and before you know it, the pain will be gone.

If you feel tooth pain and consequently have just recently chipped a tooth, go to your dentist as soon as possible. It’s possible that the pain is just a result of a broken tooth. Rest assured that as soon as your dentist has dealt with this problem, the pain would be resolved on its own.

When you feel any signs of tooth pain, always consult a dentist immediately. Even though you may feel that the situation isn’t a cause of alarm, some diseases can manifest themselves through pain.
